How to Get an Internship, Co-op or Career

  1. Write a Resume & Cover Letter - stop by the Internship & Career Center in South Hall, 2nd Floor to pick up a manual and get your resume & cover letter critiqued.
  2. Create an Aggie Job Link account.
  3. Use Aggie Job Link to search for available positions, to upload & submit your resume, cover letter, & unofficial transcript, and search for companies or organizations that will be recruiting on-campus.
  4. Attend Company/Organization Presentations - to obtain information about which companies/organizations are coming on-campus for a presentation, visit the Aggie Job Link.
  5. Search the Engineering & Physical Sciences Web site.
  6. Temporary Employment Agencies - Temporary Employment Agencies provide project opportunities with a variety of companies & organizations. Stop by the ICC to obtain a copy of temporary employment agencies that are hiring engineering & physical sciences students.
  7. Attend Internship & Career Fairs - take a look at the ICC Career Fair page to find out when the next fairs are offered. Please stop by the ICC to learn more about how to prepare for the Internship & Career Fair.
  8. Interviewing Help - the Career Resource Manual on pages 25- 29 features tips on interviewing along with commonly asked questions. Also stop by the ICC for excellent resource assistance from how to dress, what will be expected of you, help on technical engineering & physical sciences interview questions, etc.
  9. Follow up with companies you have submitted a resume or spoken with - If you have not heard back from a company/organization in 2- 3 weeks, give them a quick call or send them an email. If you have any questions about this and would like to see an sample, please stop by the ICC.
  10. Transcript Notation - Transcript notations are for internships or co-ops. They are valuable way to document any internships or co-ops that you experience while you are a student at UC Davis. Transcript Notation is not considered academic credit, but confirms that you had an internship or co-op and will go onto your official transcript.
