Faculty / Staff Resources
Welcome, UC Davis faculty / staff member
The Internship & Career Center (ICC) plays a fundamental
role in the development of approximately 6,000 internships
annually (including many workstudy projects). We also provide
extensive career development assistance, and a wide array of
career employment opportunities for UC Davis students. Many UC
Davis faculty sponsor students to intern for units of credit
and/or Transcript Notation either in their labs or on projects
of mutual interest. For information on sponsoring student
interns click on the following link sponsor
UC Davis student interns.
Statistics show that the professional relationships generated
through experiential education are often the determining factor
in the decisions associated with career employment both in terms
of students' selection of professions, and job offers made by
employers (who typically seek a foundation of coursework and
experience in their new hires).
While ICC is tasked to serve UC Davis students and alumni,
faculty and staff members at UC Davis are encouraged to
participate in the extensive community service opportunities we
offer. To find out more, click
Community Service.

NACE Guidelines
The UC Davis Internship and Career Center is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a leading source of information on the employment of the college educated. NACE forecasts trends in the job market, tracks legal issues in employment, the job search, and hiring practices, and provides college and employer professionals with benchmarks for their work. NACE provides guidelines to assist faculty with writing reference letters and with responding to requests from employers to find students for job or internship opportunities. These guidelines can be found at:
- “A Faculty Guide to Ethical and Legal Standards in Student Hiring”
- “How to Write Reference Letters”
- “What Can a Faculty Member Say or Write?”
