Descriptions: Loaves and Fishes is a charitable, non-profit, inter-faith, ecumenical organization dedicated to feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless. Volunteers are needed to work in the dining room in food preparation, cooking, serving, and clean-up. Help is needed everyday from 7:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The preparation shift is from 7:30am-10:00 am. Serving shifts are 10:30am-1:30 pm. This work is not glamorous or romantic but it does provide direct benefit to more than 800 homeless and hungry people. On the job training is provided; volunteers must be reliable, willing to help and take directions. Volunteers are also needed at the Mustard Seed School as tutors, playground supervisors and classroom aides. At the Friendship park volunteers are needed to serve the guests, distribute information and help starting at 7:00am. Orientation and tours are available every Thursday and the first Saturday of each month by appointment. New volunteers, inquiring minds, and students doing papers are invited.
