UCD Campus Organizations
Alpha Epsilon Delta
Alpha Epsilon Delta is a nationally recognized premed honor society.
Our co-ed organization stresses the importance of scholastic
achievement, community involvement, and healthcare experience. To
be a member a student must be attending UC Davis full time,
maintain a 3.0 gpa, have completed at least 5 quarters of college
work, and be working towards a degree/career in either medicine,
destiny, optometry, veterinary medicine, or other health related
field.
Cal Aggie Student Alumni Network
CASAN members participate in activities such as alumni panels,
student recruitment events, regional and national conferences, and
dinners with distinguished alumni. CASAN meets weekly from 6-7
P.M. in the founders' room of the Buehler Alumni Center unless
otherwise noted.
Circle K International
Circle K International is developed to offer activities that build
students in community service, leadership and fellowship. To club
develops service projects that involve animals, children, and member
interest. International and District Conventions are held to improve
member's leadership skills by offering workshops and help with
fellowship by offering activities that involve meeting people.
Members must pay dues of $27.00 in which the club usually pays
part of, making dues only $20.00 for a year. The club likes to see
members do 10 hours of service a quarter, join a committee, and
bring a guest to one meeting. Typical activities are service projects,
fundraisers, socials, and conventions/conferences.
Golden Key International Honour Society
Golden Key is an International honor society and we recognize the
top 15% of juniors and seniors at UCD. We organize innovative and
fun community service activities for our members, but our activities
are still open to everyone. To be an active member, people have to
earn 10 points per year to demonstrate some involvement.
Graduating seniors wear cords or medallions at commencement,
which shows their academic excellence and commitment to serving
the local community.
Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless
Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the Homeless provides healthcare and
spay/neuter services for the pets of homeless people in the
Sacramento area at no cost. The clinic operates year round, on the
second Saturday of every month. UC Davis School of Veterinary
Medicine students, faculty, and veterinarians, as well as Sacramento
area veterinarians donate their time and services.
Mujeres Ayudando La Raza
Our objectives are to promote academic excellence by aiding in the
retention of our members in the University. We are also committed
to the welfare of the Chicanas and Latinas in the community as well
as the Chicano/Latino population as a whole. We strongly
encourage the awareness of culture and heritage. We also
emphasize the diversity of the university and community.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars
Along with scholarship come the responsibility to lead and the duty
to perform service. NSCS offers a number of ways to become
involved on your campus and in your community. From our Planning
for College Success program to other opportunities offered through
our partners, there are countless opportunities to make a difference.
Serving one's community is a great way to learn and contribute to
society.
Shifa Community Clinic
Shifa Clinic is a student run clinic that serves the uninsured and
underrepresented in the Sacramento Area.
Tau Beta Pi National Honor Society
Tau Beta Pi is a national engineering honor society that recognizes
the achievements of the top 1/8 of junior engineers and the top 1/5
of senior engineers. TBP seeks to improve education, provide
networking opportunities and academic recognition, offer service
and outreach, and serve as a social outlet for its members.
The House - Peer Counseling
The House is a group of peers concerned with the mental health of
UC Davis students. They provide counseling 8-6pm M-F, programs
related to student life, support groups and the Mind and Body
Wellness Center. Students interested in volunteering should
contact The House at 752-2790.
Davis Outreach
Davis Outreach is a student-run organization that provides assistance to high school students in their quest for higher education. Our goals include educating high school students about the college admissions process, promoting college awareness among underrepresented and under-served youths in various communities, and removing any confusion about college while helping to motivate students to further excel in their academic endeavors.
We begin working with students as sophomores and continue with them until they graduate high school. Members are trained to teach grade relevant workshops about the college application process. We teach our workshops 2 to 3 times per quarter at various high schools in the Sacramento area. Interested students should contact Mayha Patel at mkpatel@ucdavis.edu
UCD Habitat for Humanity
Some 2 billion people worldwide live in poverty housing. More than 1 billion live in urban slums, and that figure is expected to double by 2030. By working in partnership with low-income families to build decent homes they can afford to buy, Habitat helps to break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness. UCD Habitat for Humanity is a student-run chapter of Habitat for Humanity International and will be working with Habitat for Humanity Woodland chapter. Volunteers help build houses for financially disadvantaged families under guidance from professionals. Additionally, the club hopes to engage deeper into the community by mentoring kids of the families who move into the new houses and offer services a the local homeless shelters and food banks. By doing so, the club members hope to advocate for an end to substandard housing and achieve a better understanding of problems faced within their community. SHARE—Students Helping in Aftermath Relief and Education
Bringing education, relief aid, and hope to children aroudn the world
The purpose of SHARE is to raise awareness and provide relief and educational aid for victims of natural and manmade disasters, especial after media coverage and other relief efforts have dwindled.Our goal is to recognize and act on the fact that the lives of disaster victims cannot move on as quickly as the media, and thus we strive to elicit continued support even after the spotlight dims. A group of concerned UC Davis students founded SHARE in response to the tsunami disaster that struck Southeast Asia in 2004. Last year we raised over $10,000 to build a technology-based learning center for an orphanage in Sri Lanka to provide education and a sustainable future to hundreds of youth affected by the tsunami. This year we are working on a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina victims. So if you enjoy helping youth or making a difference, SHARE is the right organization for you. Community Outreach Club (COC)
The Community Outreach Club (C.O.C) is committed to giving back to the community. The goal of the C.O.C is to enhance the quality of life of the people within the community by providing an abundant and diverse selection of volunteer opportunities. Our members are selfless and strongly believe the needs of others come before their own. Camp Kesem
Camp Kesem at UCD is a student-run summer camp for children who have/had a parent with cancer which allows the
campers to build self-esteem and gain support from peers facing similar challenges. Not only is Camp Kesem an amazing experience for the kids, it is a fun and rewarding experience for UC Davis Students who get involved. They need YOUR help.
