OVERVIEW: ON CAMPUS INTERVIEW
Aggie Job Link (campus interview system) combines web-based and on-premise features for maximum recruiting flexibility and convenience. Employers post company and job descriptions online, specify requirements, screen and download resumes, and preselect preferred candidates. Students log in to browse employment opportunities and information sessions, visit employer's web site, submit resumes and sign up for interview time slots. All interviews are held at the Career Recruiting Programs office on the UC Davis campus.
Basic Guidelines for Career Job Postings
- Part or full time
- Career-related posting
- Clear position description
- Functional address, email address, phone number
-
Commission Sales Positions
- If no initial base salary is provided, the form of remuneration should be clearly stated in the employer's job descriptions and at the time of the initial interviews.
-
Fees
- Recruitment for positions requiring monetary outlay by candidates for equipment and training is strongly discouraged. Students and recent graduates will be reluctant to apply for such positions. If fees are involved, this information must be explicitly included in the position description. This includes fees for certain federal and state licensing requirements, e.g., real estate, securities, etc. The Internship and Career Center reserves the right to remove positions which do not conform to these guidelines.
- Positions that request donations, application fees, or investments, or are items or services for sale cannot be listed on Aggie Job Link.
Step-by-Step Instructions 2011 Teacher Recruitment Program
STEP I: SET UP YOUR PROFILE
Log into Aggie Job Link and click on the Aggie Job Link Employer Log IN on the right side of the page.- If you used AJL last year, use your e-mail address and the same password as last year to log in. Forgot your password? Use the password reset option.
- If you have the log-in information for your school district but you are a new contact, go into your school district AJL account and update your contact information under the "Account" tab.
- New users follow directions on this page to create an account. Fill out required fields. Under "Organization Name" please specify your school district, and then click "Submit". Your password will be e-mailed to you within 24 hours. Your username is your email address.
STEP II: SELECT A DATE AND RESERVE A ROOM
- Determine the date(s) and number of schedules/rooms needed. Please note that if you would like single subject and multiple subject candidates to be interviewed in separate rooms by separate administrators, you will need to make that distinction when you create your schedule. A full day schedule in one room provides 12 thirty minute interviews; a half-day schedule provides 6 thirty minute interviews. Interviews begin at 8:30am and end at 4:30pm.
- Select your date or dates; next select "Open Schedule" then submit your schedule for approval. You should receive approval by e-mail within 24 hours.
- If you need assistance: Contact the Career Recruiting Program office at (530) 752-2286. CRP staff will assist you in setting up your schedules and will confirm your listing via email.
STEP III: ATTACH YOUR POSITION DESCRIPTION(S)
- Once your interview date(s) is approved, click here again and click on the AJL employer log in on the right side of the page. Enter your username and password.
- Click on the red Alert, "OCR Schedule(s) in need of a position".
- On the On-Campus Recruiting: Schedules page an information bar should be present, which will include the date of the visit, ID number, time span, On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) model, location, number of rooms and options.
- Under the Options field there will be an Attach Position button. Click this button, and you will be directed to the Create/Attach Position page.
- Click on Copy/Create a New Position and fill in all of the required fields for the Position Information. Create a separate position for each available opening. For example, rather than saying "Single subject teacher" and then listing the discipline for which you are hiring, create separate positions for "English teacher", "Math teacher", etc. In the position description, PLEASE TYPE "Keyword: TRP" as this is the keyword candidates will use to search for jobs. If you do not include this in your position description, the job will not show up when the candidates search! Note: If you have multiple rooms, be sure to attach the appropriate position to the correct room. If you would like all single-subjects in one room and all multiple subjects in another, make sure you make that distinction in this section of the description.
- Suggestions for screening criteria: Major (all), Degree (teaching credential), Graduation Date (enter beginning date as June 1970; ending date January 2012-that will allow both our alumni and Masters candidates to be included) and work authorization (please indicate). To make multiple choices, hold the Control key down as you click.
- NOTE: Only candidates who meet your specified job requirements will be able to submit a resume. Keep in mind, the more criteria you choose, the more students will be "blocked" from submitting a resume for your position.
- To save, you may either select Save and Finish (if you only had one position to attach) or Save and Attach Another (if you are interviewing for multiple positions). For multiple positions, save yourself time by using the drop-down menu under "copy position" and select the position you want to copy. You can then manually edit the aspects that are different (for example, change "Math teacher" to "English teacher", etc.).
- Once saved, an email will be sent that confirms each listing separately.
- You may check your schedule at any time – log in and click on "On Campus Recruiting" (OCR) at the top of the page. Select "Schedules" tab underneath. Click on the date you would like to view, and then click the "View Interview Schedule" link on the left side of the page. To look at candidates' resumes, click on the "Interviews" tab and a pdf of each resume will appear in the documents column to the right of the each candidate's name.
For any questions, contact the Career Recruiting Programs office at (530)752-2286 or via email -OR- Naomi Kinert at 530-752-8342 or via email.
Basic Guidelines for Internship Postings
- Internships are work-learn experiences in a professional environment outside the classroom where students can explore career areas, gain practical skills, and make industry contacts. An internship is a learning experience which supports a student's academic and career goals. It is guided, supervised and evaluated by professionals. Internships vary from 4 to 40 hours per week; are voluntary or paid; and range from 10 weeks to 12 months.
- The minimum time commitment for student participation is 40 hours per quarter, based on the ten week quarter, which typically works out to a minimum of 4 - 6 hours per week. Many internships require at least 8 - 10 hours per week.
- An internship can be paid or non-paid.
- A professional staff member, not another student, must supervise the intern.
- The intern should be involved in academic or career related work and clerical duties should be limited.
- Internships may: a) provide assistance with the ongoing work of a business or organization, or b) involve a special project or assignment, thus allowing the intern to focus on one particular aspect of the experience.
- Students at all levels of education are eligible to participate in an internship, freshman through graduate student, depending upon the needs of the organization. The intern sponsor determines the qualifications and skills needed for each position.
- An internship requires a one-quarter minimum commitment, although many internship sponsors prefer a two or even three-quarter commitment from students.
- Students are encouraged to complete the TN process via Aggie Job Link to document that their experience is University approved. Students may also choose to pursue academic credit for their participation in an internship.
- Virtual internships must be closely supervised via phone and online communication and reviewed for feasibility and legitimacy by a Coordinator.

When establishing your recruiting schedules, we ask that you realistically review your past experiences at UC Davis and set up the number of schedules that accurately reflect your company's needs.
Once your visit is reserved, you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed.
Terms and Conditions
Employer Eligibility: Employers who are hiring candidates for bona fide jobs may interview through the On-Campus Recruiting Program. A bona fide job is defined as a professional position which is salaried (not 100% commission), and does not require the candidate to pay a fee for training, equipment, applications procedures or other job-related expenses (this does not apply to federal and state licensing requirements such as real estate, securities, etc.) A draw against future earnings does not constitute a salary. Employers may only recruit on-campus for existing job vacancies or those, which will exist by the time a candidate is available for employment with your organization. Campus interviews must be directly scheduled and conducted by the organizations' employees, rather than by third party representatives. Employers who recruit at UC Davis must adhere to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines and the National Association of Colleges and Employers Principles for Professional Conduct. Click here for a link to NACE Employment Principles for Professionals.
Equal Employment Opportunity / Nondiscrimination : The Internship & Career Center does not make its interviewing facilities and job listing services available to employers who unlawfully discriminate in the selection of employees.
The University of California, in accordance with applicable Federal and State law and University policy, does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, pregnancy (including pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth), disability, age, medical condition (cancer-related), ancestry, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or status as a Vietnam-era veteran or special disabled veteran. The University also prohibits sexual harassment.
Employers must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. UC Davis has an institutional commitment to the principle of diversity. It is our policy to assist you in your efforts to generate a pool of qualified applicants that includes ethnic minorities, women, and persons with disabilities. However, we cannot accept requests to limit interviews to only those students in the underrepresented groups.
Testing: Aptitude and psychological testing is prohibited at Career Recruiting Programs. If your organization conducts pre-employment drug testing you must communicate your policy to Career Recruiting Programs at the time you confirm your interview schedule. You must also include a policy statement in your recruiting publications and inform students of this policy in your on-campus interviews. Employers are not to tape record interviews or take pictures of candidates.
Types of Interviews
Preselect: Preselect schedules let you review resumes and choose preferred candidates to interview on the day of your campus visit. You can rank and select candidates online, download resumes and cover letters, and communicate with applicants via Email. All interview schedules will be 'Preselect' schedules unless your organization is a government agency.
Open: For government agencies, we will conduct open scheduling for interviews. Students may sign up for an interview on a first come-first serve basis.
