OVERVIEW: ON CAMPUS INTERVIEW

Aggie Job Link (campus interview system) combines web-based and on-premise features for maximum recruiting flexibility and convenience. Employers post company and job descriptions online, specify requirements, screen and download resumes, and preselect preferred candidates. Students log in to browse employment opportunities and information sessions, visit employer's web site, submit resumes and sign up for interview time slots. All interviews are held at the Career Recruiting Programs office on the UC Davis campus.

up Basic Guidelines for Career Job Postings

  • Part or full time
  • Career-related posting
  • Clear position description
  • Functional address, email address, phone number
  • Commission Sales Positions
    • If no initial base salary is provided, the form of remuneration should be clearly stated in the employer's job descriptions and at the time of the initial interviews.
  • Fees
    • Recruitment for positions requiring monetary outlay by candidates for equipment and training is strongly discouraged. Students and recent graduates will be reluctant to apply for such positions. If fees are involved, this information must be explicitly included in the position description. This includes fees for certain federal and state licensing requirements, e.g., real estate, securities, etc. The Internship and Career Center reserves the right to remove positions which do not conform to these guidelines.
    • Positions that request donations, application fees, or investments, or are items or services for sale cannot be listed on Aggie Job Link.

up Basic Guidelines for Internship Postings

  • Virtual internships must be closely supervised via phone and online communication and reviewed for feasibility and legitimacy by a Coordinator.
  • The minimum time commitment for student participation is 40 hours per quarter, based on the ten week quarter, which typically works out to a minimum of 4 - 6 hours per week. Many internships require at least 8 - 10 hours per week.
  • An internship can be paid or non-paid.
  • A professional staff member, not another student, must supervise the intern.
  • The intern should be involved in academic or career related work and clerical duties should be limited.
  • Internships may: a) provide assistance with the ongoing work of a business or organization, or b) involve a special project or assignment, thus allowing the intern to focus on one particular aspect of the experience.
  • Students at all levels of education are eligible to participate in an internship, freshman through graduate student, depending upon the needs of the organization. The intern sponsor determines the qualifications and skills needed for each position.
  • An internship requires a one-quarter minimum commitment, although many internship sponsors prefer a two or even three-quarter commitment from students.
  • Students are encouraged to complete the TN process via Aggie Job Link to document that their experience is University approved. Students may also choose to pursue academic credit for their participation in an internship.

Set up On Campus Interviews

Aggie Job Link is our on line campus recruiting scheduling program. Interview arrangements are made by calling our office to first reserve a room at (530) 752-2286.

Beginning February of each year, reservations are taken for the following academic year. Companies are advised to contact our office at least six months before the desired recruiting date since space is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

When establishing your recruiting schedules, we ask that you realistically review your past experiences at UC Davis and set up the number of schedules that accurately reflect your company's needs.

Once your visit is reserved, you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed.

Terms and Conditions

Employer Eligibility: Employers who are hiring candidates for bona fide jobs may interview through the On-Campus Recruiting Program. A bona fide job is defined as a professional position which is salaried (not 100% commission), and does not require the candidate to pay a fee for training, equipment, applications procedures or other job-related expenses (this does not apply to federal and state licensing requirements such as real estate, securities, etc.) A draw against future earnings does not constitute a salary. Employers may only recruit on-campus for existing job vacancies or those, which will exist by the time a candidate is available for employment with your organization. Campus interviews must be directly scheduled and conducted by the organizations' employees, rather then by third party representatives. Employers who recruit at UC Davis must adhere to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) guidelines and the National Association of Colleges and Employers Principles for Professional Conduct. Click here for a link to NACE Employment Principles for Professionals.

Equal Employment Opportunity: The Internship & Career Center does not make its interviewing facilities and job listing services available to employers who unlawfully discriminate in the selection of employees on the basis of national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, handicap, age, or any other basis prohibited by law. Employers must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. UC Davis has an institutional commitment to the principle of diversity. It is our policy to assist you in your efforts to generate a pool of qualified applicants that includes ethnic minorities, women, and persons with disabilities. However, we cannot accept requests to limit interviews to only those students in the underrepresented groups.

Testing: Aptitude and psychological testing is prohibited at Career Recruiting Programs. If your organization conducts pre-employment drug testing you must communicate your policy to Career Recruiting Programs at the time you confirm your interview schedule. You must also include a policy statement in your recruiting publications and inform students of this policy in your on-campus interviews. Employers are not to tape record interviews or take pictures of candidates.

Types of Interviews

Preselect: Preselect schedules let you review resumes and choose preferred candidates to interview on the day of your campus visit. You can rank and select candidates online, download resumes and cover letters, and communicate with applicants via Email. All interview schedules will be 'Preselect' schedules unless your organization is a government agency.

Open: For government agencies, we will conduct open scheduling for interviews. Students may sign up for an interview on a first come-first serve basis.
