Academic Job Search Sites
The most efficient way to conduct an academic job search is to become a member of the scholarly society or societies in your discipline. Most organizations maintain a webpage or send out publications with academic listings.The Chronicle of Higher Education is another excellent source of these listings, although it is likely that many disciplines rely more on their own scholarly society publications to list ads in order to hit their target audience.
A more time-consuming and less efficient way to search for these positions is to visit each college's or university's website individually. We have included links to some of these for those prefer to use this search method.
The most effective way to find a postdoctoral position is through contacting faculty and research groups whose interests match your own. There are some online sites that list available postdoc positions, which we list below, but these should be used in conjunction with direct networking. Social science and humanities postdoctoral positions are often listed with other academic positions, but they can be difficult to locate, so networking is also crucial for finding and securing these positions.

Scholarly Societies Website A good place to start! This site contains listings for most of the scholarly organizations worldwide which allows you to search their individual websites for discipline- specific positions.
The Chronicle of Higher Education - an excellent source of academic listings and easy to use.
Inside Higher Ed Contains a job board for faculty positions and articles relating to academic careers.
www.hercjobs.org listings of academic, staff and executive positions in higher education; also can search by regions including Northern California.
www.higheredjobs.com includes faculty and administrative positions; good source for community college, PT-adjunct positions.

California Community Colleges - The Registry - a state-wide job listings for the community colleges. Be aware that not all campuses use this service. You may want to check individual campuses in addition to this site.

UCD Postdoc Positions this new listing service is maintained by the UCD Office of Graduate Studies. Contains postdoctoral scholar positions on the UCD campus and surrounding facilities.
