8:30am - 9:00am: Sign-in and late registration
9:00am - 9:15am: Opening remarks
Speaker: William Lacy, Ph.D., Vice Provost, University Outreach and International Programs
9:15am - 10:15am: International Hires and the Law
This panel will be led by an attorney specializing in immigration law and an SISS International Student Advisor. They will address legal issues and discuss what is needed for employment in the U.S.
Speakers: Ann Kanter, Attorney, Kanter Immigration Law Office & Marie Manlapaz, International Student Advisor, SISS.
10:25am - 11:25am: Interview Strategies for International Candidates
This session will examine the "American-style" interview and reveal what employers look for in applicants.
Speaker: Debra Behrens, Ph.D., Career Counselor, UC Berkeley Career Center.
11:35am - 12:50pm: Job Search Experiences of International Professionals
A panel of international professionals will share how they successully secured jobs in academia, industry and government.
Speakers: Bo Feng, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Communication, UC Davis; Vivek Chetty, M.S., Project
Manager, John Zink Company & Anke Mueller-Solger, Ph.D., IEP Lead Scientist, CALFED Science Program.
