Dental - Clinical hbs2774 UCD Medical Center - Sacramento Shadow clinical director of University Dental Associates. Observe dental procedures. Patients may be referrals from otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) department and include cancer patients who need prosthetic devices implanted (e.g., obtruator to close a defect) or patients with mouth defects (e.g., cleft palate).

Mandatory Confirmation Meeting: Attendance at a confirmation meeting is required for all internships. Day and time will be provided when you sign-up. Be on time to this meeting or your spot may be given away. Any internship openings will be given to students who were unable to obtain an internship placement during sign-ups. Meetings last approximately 1 hour and you must stay the entire time. Bring student ID, paper, pen, class schedules, and your internship placement confirmation email (the 2nd email). Mandatory Orientation: The hospitals and some private clinics have a mandatory orientation that you must attend before volunteering. The day and time of your orientation (if applicable) will be provided when you sign up. If an orientation is required for your internship and you do not attend, you will be dropped from your internship with a penalty. Immunizations: Proof of Rubella and Rubeola vaccination, and TB test (within the last 10 months) required for many internships. Details will be provided when you sign-up. Please see your private physician or Cowell Student Health (752-2300) for immunizations.

Dental - Davis CommuniCare The dental clinic offers dental services such as dental exams and x-rays, fillings, root canal and gum therapy, emergency care, surgery, referrals, and education and preventative services. The services are provided to Yolo county residents who cannot afford the full cost of care and have no health insurance. Volunteers will be trained to sterilize exam rooms, to prepare exam trays and rooms, to autoclave instruments, and to develop x-rays.

Dental lab - hbs2222 Dental lab - Sacramento Follow safety rules and precautions. Learn how to make models. Observe how to create tooth models, prepare crowns and bridges. Learn basic rules for making braces and other complicated procedures. Assist laboratory personnel when necessary. MUST HAVE INTEREST IN DENTISTRY. Junior and Seniors preferred!!!

Oral Surgery - hbs2174 Oral Surgery - Davis Observe patient/doctor interaction. Observe surgeries. Wash and sterilize instruments, set up surgical trays, and clean rooms after surgery. Prefers assertive students, who have taken a physiology course, and are aware of universal safety procedures. Prefer pre-dental student and some experience!

Orthodontic - hbs2476 Orthodontic - Davis Duties may vary from strictly observational to identifying and using orthodontic instruments, sterilization techniques, and understanding the administrative procedures involved in running an orthodontic office.
