Cast Room Learn basic anatomy, how to set up different devices for injured people (traction techniques) and assist with casting procedures. Assist technician during daily rounds throughout hospital (including ER and pediatrics). Must be able to handle "blood and guts" situations. |

Mandatory Confirmation Meeting: Attendance at a confirmation meeting is required for all internships. Day and time will be provided when you sign-up. Be on time to this meeting or your spot may be given away. Any internship openings will be given to students who were unable to obtain an internship placement during sign-ups. Meetings last approximately 1 hour and you must stay the entire time. Bring student ID, paper, pen, class schedules, and your internship placement confirmation email (the 2nd email). Mandatory Orientation: The hospitals and some private clinics have a mandatory orientation that you must attend before volunteering. The day and time of your orientation (if applicable) will be provided when you sign up. If an orientation is required for your internship and you do not attend, you will be dropped from your internship with a penalty. Immunizations: Proof of Rubella and Rubeola vaccination, and TB test (within the last 10 months) required for many internships. Details will be provided when you sign-up. Please see your private physician or Cowell Student Health (752-2300) for immunizations.

Echo and Stress Lab This lab tests patients for heart function using an echocardiogram while patients are either exercising on a treadmill or lying in bed and having heart function increased by drug therapy. Assist technicians with exercise, providing patient comfort and/or stocking shelves. |

Non-Invasive Cardiology Services Rotate through seven stations or labs learning as well as watching/assisting with patients. Stations/labs include EKGs, Holter monitors, echocardiograms, treadmills, and cardiac rehabilitation exercise sessions. Opportunity to meet cardiologists. Patients range from Pediatrics to Adult Cardio (pre-and post-op) |

Orthotics Lots of hands-on experience and patient interaction. Assist staff in designing and fitting braces, artificial limbs and casts on patients. Many patients are seen in the burn unit, operating room, pediatrics and/or emergency room. Must be able to handle viewing burn and trauma patients. |

Radiology Assist X-ray technicians with film development, learn names of the human body, and transport patients throughout the hospital including emergency and operating rooms. The 3pm - 7pm and 7pm-11pm shifts work in the emergency department. |
