The American Red Cross of Yolo County has been present in this area since the late 1800s. The Yolo County Chapter has 5 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee and consists of over 350 volunteers. The local Chapter offers CPR and First Aid classes, Disaster Preparedness training as well as assists people who have been diplaced because of a disaster.

Picnic Day is the largest student-run event in the United States and is the annual Open House for the University of California, Davis. This hallmark event has been designed to showcase and celebrate the richness of campus life, the diverse achievements of UCD students, staff and faculty to provide a day of education, information and entertainment to all who attend. There will be more than 150 events throughout the campus and we expect 50,000-60,000 visitors to enjoy this special day.

In its fourteenth year of service to Sacramento’s current and future leader, Breakthrough at Sacramento Day School is a year-round, tuition-free college-preparatory program for a diverse group of academically-motivated students attending targeted under-resourced schools in the Sacramento area: Meadowview, Oak Park, and Del Paso Heights. Breakthrough is also a teacher-training program for students. Research has shown that these students will end the cycle of poverty in their families.

5. Building Dreams Mentor Program

The Building Dreams Mentor Program (BD) is a school-based career-oriented mentor program that exists to enhance a California Partnership Academy student’s academic and personal experiences with the guidance, support, and motivation of a dedicated mentor so that they may build dreams upon a strong foundation in order to achieve emotional well-being, social competence and academic success. The three California Partnership Academys are located at Foothil, Highlands and Grant High School.

CA House's Acorn Mentoring Project brings UC Davis students together with under-resourced youth in Sacramento for metoring relationships on Tuesday afternoons. Acorn is an action-reflection service project with seminars on alternate Thursday afternoons and the option to earn UCD course credit. Two site coordinators may also earn a small stipend. Each quarter we also offer a field trip or other special event.

The Campus Violence Prevention Program was established in 1977 and since then has continued to explore myths and exposes the realities of sexual violence, relationship violence, and hate related activity, focusing on prevention through education. CRH is the safety net for the area's abused and neglected children between the ages of 1 and 17. As the only emergency shelter of its kind in Sacramento County, in effect; we act as the "front door" of the child protective system.
With a daily capacity of 98, we serve more than 2,000 children each year. As the crucial first link in the County's early intervention system, we provide proven strategies that stabilize, normalize, and produce improved long term outcomes for children.

UC Davis Circle K was chartered in 1974 and currently has 90 paid members. New members are welcome anytime. CKI mainly focuses on serving children, but strives to serve all other groups including the elderly and homeless. The club also works with other organizations on campus and in the community, including Kiwanis Family House, Yolo County Food Bank, Davis Community Meals, and more.

We are in dire need of college level volunteers to tutor in all of our AVID classes. the hours are varied but we will work with our Tutor Volunteers to place them accordingly.

In 2007, The House will be celebrating 37 years of volunteer one-to-one peer counseling on a drop-in and telephone basis (752-2790). There are 30-35 peer counselors who are selected to train during Winter Quarter and participate in intensive training 8 hours weekly during Spring Quarter.
